What Has Changed in ABAP
ABAP on S/4HANA is not the ABAP of ten years ago. Because the HANA database is fast, heavy logic now moves down into the database through CDS views and AMDP instead of being processed row by row in loops. The syntax is shorter, with inline declarations and constructor expressions. User interfaces are built as Fiori apps on top of OData services, and new development follows the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
SAP is also pushing customers toward a "clean core": keeping the standard system untouched and building extensions with released APIs in ABAP Cloud. Companies still have years of classic ABAP running, though, so a developer who knows both styles is far more useful than one who knows only one. This course teaches both.
